Slowly But Surely!!!

**slowly.. but surely!

Well .. folks… ITS DONE!!!!! YAY PROJECT SDSR IS LIVE!

It’s been a few weeks since I stopped Dr. Mcwhatshispants in the hallway and asked him what the heck was going on with his twitter. For those who don’t know, SDSR stands for the AWESOMENESS that is San Diego Spine and Rehab here in sunny San Diego, CA.

I started going to them back in October of 2010 because of severe untreated back problems. I say untreated because I was ridiculously afraid of chiropractic anything never mind letting someone even think about adjusting me. It took a few months and a lot of hard work but the difference in my life is huge. The people at SDSR don’t just treat you like a an annoying patient (which I mostly was), they treat you like someone they actually give a crap about. I trusted Dr. Ali enough to let her try adjusting me manually. I don’t think she’s laughed quite that hard doing her job before. But they were kind, funny, patient, thorough and really really funny at times. (I think I said funny twice.. it’s meant)

So I got the idea to write a blog post about them when I finished treatment and lo and behold their social media was a little slow on the uptake. Perfect timing on my part, since this stuff is what I do for fun! So I presented a prospective project and off we went.

The project involved hand coding several sites, building a wordpress blog, skinning it, and the summary graphic design work. I’m so excited to say that it is done!!! It went live at 457am this morning (yes monster plugged in sess all night) and …. *pulls shoulders back with a sly grin…. WENT OFF WITHOUT A HITCH LADIES N GENTS! Yes. You read me correctly!!! Database migration, full file migration, coding work, and graphic design…. and it went live like silk slides over a pillow. (NO clue where that analogy came from???? sleep deprivation???)

Anywho!!! Go check out the website, check out the blog. There is not really any content yet of course, but get ready… it’s coming and when it does you better be on the Ride of Rad, the Tide of Terrific and any other *wowee rhyme I can bust out….

Love us on Facebook!

Let us tweet in your ear ;)

Check out the amazing SDSR!!!~!

RUNKEEPER PRO FREE!!!

Yay! Yay!!! Newsbreak! Breaking news! Whatever! Lolol.
Runkeeper Pro is FREE until the end of January 2011! I am so
excited. Runkeeper is my all-time favorite exercise tracking
application on my 3GS iPhone. I had been using the free version,
waiting on getting the 9.99 version in iTunes. The pro version
added audio cues, more functionality, GPS tagged photos, live maps,
coaching, and playlists… Among other things. So save yourself 10
bucks, go to iTunes, download it for free! Then add Rrockstarr to
your street team on href="http://www.runkeeper.com">www.runkeeper.com I
haven’t done the live tracking yet, but get enough of us together
and let’s use it as distance working out together!

My fave sites for resources

Just fiddling with my sites, now that I have time. Want to get rid of all flash design. So I have been bopping about looking for resources, brushes etc. I decided to list several of my favorite sites here.

Seishido Brushes by Janita

I love her brushes!!!! I’ve been using her work for years, literally. She has some of the best brush work I’ve ever seen. The brush sets are incredibly inexpensive, you get many freebies, and her customer service is amazing. I totally <3 her stuff.

THE DA!!!!

DeviantArt. One of my first exposures to massive amounts of free form creativity. It is my favorite website for art, resources, inspiration, enjoyment and my personal more creative work. DA accounts are free also. You can’t not have a DA account :P . You just can’t.

Brusheezy

Amazing site for brushes.

Core GFX

Great Resource Site! Not just brushes, but textures, vectors, tutorials. Most are Photoshop CS1, CS2, and onward. I use CS4 right now, about to upgrade to CS5 and most things still work.

DesignFruit

His work is really bold and good for site design or print. Definitely one to check out!

I have more that I will post in the next one. I have a huge group of tutorial sites.

Why is it always greener on the other side?

Oh! Right. We are wearing glasses spray painted sheer green. I guess taking them off would be like suddenly seeing an old silent film in full sound and color.

Hello world!

Well goodness. I am as fickle with design as I am temperature of my mocha.  In my defense I must say that hardware issues have plagued me beyond belief the past six months. The site was due for an overhaul anyways. The new blog implementation also allowed me to update all the relevant software.

While working with a colleague on methods of collaborating work and portfolios I came across this image. I have to smile. Why? Look at her face. The sheer unbridled joy and excitement is something I know all too well. But as we “grow-up”, or in my case just grow older since there is no maturity evident, we lose that honest ability to express it freely. I figured this image, while not the most perfect, taken on the old snap and go Kodak, and not really even that high of a resolution… couldn’t be more perfect of a way to start things off fresh!
